During her time away from school, Yuri did not stop researching! Here you can see her spending time doing research and working on her foundation and deeper questions. She did a great job communicating her learning with her team from while she was away from school.
Students have returned refreshed and energized after a week's holiday. This week each group has presented their learning thus far to their classmates, summarizing past research and sharing their future directions. The process has provided opportunities for all grade five students to continue making connections to the work of other groups, and to our central idea....
"Based on their beliefs and values human actions make a difference in communities." Students have also begun a new math project connected with their Exhibition. They will be conducting a survey as a means of collecting information that will facilitate greater understanding of our chosen issues. Within their Exhibition groups students will create a survey question with 4-6 possible responses. They will survey 50 people, keeping in mind the importance of choosing a representative sample. They will collect the data, organize and represent the data, summarize, draw conclusions and create new questions. Expert interviews, mentor meetings and field trips continue this week as students find a variety of ways to collect information to answer their questions. |
